The Alpha Xis are in full swing since coming back from winter break! We recently underwent a change in the way our chapter is structured so we are working hard to adapt to that, especially with a whole new executive team, but we are excited to see what the semester holds for us!
Our executive team is so great and already doing amazing things! Our new executive team is as follows:
Chapter President- Rachel Kerger
Chapter Life Vice President (VP)- Jacy Chiaramonte
Communications VP- Brandi Ragan
Financial and Operations VP- Sarah Ritondale
Membership Development VP- Danielle Kanour
Membership VP- Marie Angier
Philanthropy VP- Abbey Browning
Panhellenic Delegate- Alexis Johnson
The weekend of the twenty-sixth of January, our executive team went to Area Wide Training in Monmouth, Illinois, where they had the opportunity to meet sisters from other chapters to learn and teach one another. Communications VP, Brandi Ragan, reports her thoughts on the experience: “Area Wide Training was great! It was awesome to learn about many ways to improve our chapter and it was also fun getting to meet new sisters and share ideas!"
So far, we have had three sisterhoods to reconnect with sisters after our time away. We have done team-building activities, minute-to-win-it games, and canvas painting! We also have had two study nights, where we come together for either silent or open-to-talk sessions to start our academics out right! We also mingled with the Fraternity Sorority Life community at our mixer with Alpha Phi at Applebee’s for half-priced appetizers.
We have been in the process of informal recruitment and holding Continuous Open Bidding (COB) events to recruit new sisters! Our first COB event, where we painted canvases and chatted amongst each other, was a blast! We cannot wait to get to know more potential sisters and welcome them into our chapter in the coming months!
Our own, Kate Custis, got the opportunity to participate in the National Panhellenic Conference as our Panhellenic Vice President of Recruitment to receive training. She learned a lot regarding recruitment tactics, vocabulary words, and how the way we do recruitment differs from other campuses.
As we wrap up the month of January, we have much to look forward to this year with it being 125 years of sisterhood as of the seventeenth of April, Founder’s Day! Keep a look out for the next newsletter to stay updated!
